Me

Hi! This is by far the longest spiel I've ever given about myself, so... enjoy!

My greatest goal in life is to have a family; I've never really wanted anything more. But right now, I feel like I've forgotten what it feels like to be in love (it's been four years since my last serious relationship, and that was high school!), and I'm sick and tired of not even having a real crush since. Also, I'm terrible at meeting new people; I have my circle of friends, and within it I'm as social as can be, but put me in the company of strangers and I go total wallflower. I also tend to make internet friends pretty easily, but the ease of communication I find with online connections doesn't translate well into verbal communication (compare my text-based role-playing skills to the floundering "Uh, um, hang on" 's of my tabletop role-play blunderings).

At age 21 (October 13, 1987), I've been out of high school for four years (really?), and have the rough equivalent of three years of assorted college credits from a total of four seperate institutions. In high school, I got through my classes with relative ease, a truth which I believe to be partially to blame for my difficulty in post-secondary school (it's hard, and I was used to it being easy!). Socially, I was somewhat of a "bridge", as my mother calls it, between the nerdy guys and the popular girls, and my circle of friends (old and new) reflects that; I've got pretty close friends all across the board. I play "girly" video games, like Harvest Moon (oh, shut up), The Sims 2 and Katamari Damacy, and then I crochet plushies out of the characters (so far I've got a moogle and a Prince). I like to watch anime and read manga, but I'm not an otaku weirdo about it; I tend to think I can pass as pretty normal in most circumstances.

I also enjoy writing. My best friend from high school and I have been emailing back and forth for years writing stories, and she's always the first to read all my essays. Of course, with a love of writing often comes a love of reading, and I do love to read. A few favorites (in no particular order): Stranger in a Strange Land (Heinlein), The Catcher in the Rye (Salinger), The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay (Chabon), Child of My Right Hand (Goodman), Brave New World (Huxley), Life of Pi (Matel). There are many other great books out there, but those were some of the most moving for me.

I live for Broadway. I love show tunes. Don't judge me. Current faves (also not in order): Spamalot, Beauty and the Beast, Zanna, Don't!, Aida, Bare, Spring Awakening, Avenue Q, Altar Boyz. In my dreams, I am often a Broadway star, but I haven't been involved in drama since I was ten, although I love singing and was in the jazz choir my last year in high school (I was mostly a band girl; flute), and an a capella choir at my first college (Wells) which I absolutely adored. I love singing, not only because it feels awesome, but because it's one of the things that I know I'm really good at. And it's nice to have some of those things. I do like some mainstream music, though, mostly classic and modern rock. Freddie Mercury is pretty much God to me. Also found on my mp3 player are Counting Crows, Indigo Girls, Alanis Morissette, Brett Dennen, Billy Joel, Goo Goo Dolls, Norah Jones, O.A.R., Dave Matthews, the Vienna Boys Choir (yeah, I'm weird), a few random J-Rock tunes from various anime, and you can throw in some Sister Hazel, Magnetic Fields and Beach Boys, too, what the heck.

I also have a fishy! My betta, Sebrahn, is my greatest love. Not including the bird, Beanie the green-cheeked conure, who still lives at Mom and Dad's house (because he is spoiled and LOUD and requires a real house with a very tolerant roommate), Sebrahn is my only pet. I love dogs. I raised a Guide Dog puppy my freshman year in high school (a yellow lab named Yolo), and that was an incredible experience. Haven't yet met a breed that outranks the lab for me. I would love to have one when I finally settle down. I've also rather warmed up to cats over the past few years. And I want a rabbit. A Holland Lop. I had one of those when I was ten, but I could do much better with one now. I love animals. I want a bunny. But I love my fishy!

Currently, I'm two quarters away from an AAS at Whatcom Community College in Bellingham, WA, and have a tentative plan to become a paleoanthropologist (if I can handle the school, which is looking more likely every day). Balancing school with full-time work is tough, but is proving possible.

My romantic love styles are eros/agape.

My Myers-Briggs personality type is ISFP.

My western astrological sun sign is Libra.

My Chinese zodiacal sign is the Rabbit.
